We believe therapists do their best work when they’re supported, challenged, and given room to grow.

Full Self Psychotherapy is a trauma-focused group practice in Dupont Circle serving teens and adults throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Our work goes beyond insight alone. We specialize in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapies, helping clients work with trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, shame, neurodivergence, relationship patterns, and experiences that continue to affect how they feel in their minds and bodies.

We’re also an intensives-focused practice. Alongside traditional 45- and 60-minute therapy, our clinicians offer 90-minute and 2-hour extended sessions, as well as 3-hour half-day and 5-hour full-day intensives.

This model is especially well suited to the kind of therapy we do. EMDR, IFS, and somatic work can involve helping a client settle into their body, access difficult material or protective parts, process what emerges, and have enough time to regulate and integrate before leaving the session. With longer sessions, we don’t always have to stop just because the clock hits 45 minutes.

For clients, that can mean more uninterrupted time for focused trauma work and less time repeatedly opening and closing the same material from week to week.

We also believe this model can be better for therapists. A traditional full day might mean moving between six or seven different clients, clinical presentations, and emotional states. Longer sessions allow clinicians to see fewer individual clients while spending more sustained time doing the deeper work they trained to do. That can mean less constant context-switching and more opportunity for focused, fulfilling clinical work.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for thoughtful, curious therapists who genuinely love doing therapy and want to keep getting better at it.

A strong fit for FSP is someone who is self-reflective, collaborative, warm, and comfortable thinking beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. You value the therapeutic relationship while also wanting tools that help clients create change beyond what they can understand intellectually.

Our clinicians work with teens and adults across a range of identities and backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients. We’re committed to providing inclusive, affirming care and to continually examining how identity, culture, privilege, and systems show up in both therapy and our work with one another.

We’re especially interested in clinicians who are EMDR trained and have training or significant interest in IFS and somatic approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy or Somatic Experiencing. Experience working with trauma and PTSD is important.

Because we have strong demand for in-person therapy, we prioritize clinicians who are excited about maintaining a consistent in-person presence in our Dupont Circle office.

What It’s Like to Work at FSP

What kind of position do you offer?

Our clinicians are full-time W-2 employees, not independent contractors. We’re building a team of therapists who want to be meaningfully connected to the practice, their colleagues, and the clinical community we’re creating at FSP.

We want clinicians to have autonomy in their work without feeling like they’re running a solo practice inside a group practice. You get to focus primarily on being a therapist while FSP invests in the infrastructure around you.

What does FSP provide?

A lot goes into supporting a therapist’s work beyond the therapy hour. FSP provides beautiful office space in Dupont Circle, referrals and consult scheduling, marketing and SEO, administrative and billing support, an EHR and established practice systems, payroll, HIPAA-compliant technology, Psychology Today and professional memberships, and license renewal reimbursement.

We also invest directly in professional development through an annual training stipend, paid training time, individual and group supervision or consultation, and opportunities to deepen your work in the modalities we use across the practice.

Our goal is for clinicians to have the support and infrastructure they need to spend more of their energy doing excellent clinical work rather than managing all of the administrative, marketing, and operational work that comes with practicing independently.

What does compensation look like?

FSP is a private-pay practice with competitive compensation for clinicians. Because we don’t rely on insurance reimbursement rates, we’re able to set fees that reflect the specialized, high-quality trauma treatment our clinicians provide and invest significantly in the people doing that work.

Compensation includes both clinical and nonclinical paid time, along with an annual training stipend, paid training hours, license renewal reimbursement, professional memberships, and individual and group supervision or consultation.

Clinicians also aren’t responsible for building a private practice around themselves. FSP invests in the infrastructure that helps bring clients into the practice and keeps things running behind the scenes, from marketing, SEO, and referral relationships to scheduling, billing, administrative support, office space, technology, and established systems and workflows.

What are the caseload and schedule expectations?

Full-time clinicians generally see 20–25 sessions per week, with a goal of averaging 22 sessions per week. And 22 sessions doesn’t necessarily mean 22 separate clients or 22 traditional therapy hours. A clinician’s week might include 45- and 60-minute sessions alongside 90-minute or 2-hour extended sessions and 3- or 5-hour intensives.

That flexibility is intentional. We want clinicians to develop caseloads that are financially sustainable while also leaving room for the kind of deeper trauma work that is central to FSP.

We prioritize a consistent in-person presence in Dupont Circle while allowing clinicians flexibility in how they build their schedules. Our clinicians offer a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend availability based on their schedules and the needs of the practice.

What matters to you as a practice?

Our values include humility, collaboration and community, inclusivity and justice, and excellence.

We value clinicians who are self-reflective, open to feedback, and committed to continued growth, while also having confidence in their own clinical judgment. We want therapists who can think independently, trust themselves, and recognize when consultation and support are genuinely needed.

We take the work seriously without believing therapists need to be perfect. Curiosity, good judgment, and a willingness to keep learning matter much more to us than having all the answers.

Who should apply?

If you love trauma work and want to keep getting better at it, FSP might be a good fit. We’re looking for therapists who are excited about EMDR, IFS, and somatic therapy, who genuinely like being part of a team, and who are interested in doing deeper work with clients through therapy intensives. If that sounds like the kind of therapist you want to be, we’d love to hear from you.
